Vi Tuong Nguyen, DO

Vi Tuong Nguyen, DO developed a passion for preventive care in part because of family. “My father was a chronic cigarette smoker who eventually passed away from lung cancer,” she says. “After learning that cigarette smoking increases risk of cancer, I often wondered if my father would still be here if he had stopped smoking.”

Dr. Nguyen always wanted a career that allows her to help people. “During my undergraduate years, I was attracted to the field of medicine, particularly primary care, because I believe that preventative care is important for patients to lead a healthy life.” After earning her medical degree at Touro University of Nevada, Dr. Nguyen completed her training with a Family Medicine residency at Loma Linda Family Medicine in Loma Linda, California.

Dr. Nguyen is a dedicated, hardworking Board-certified family medicine physician who wants to deliver meaningful care to diverse populations. “I have a thirst for knowledge and am always looking for opportunities to enhance my medical skills to improve my patients’ overall health,” she says. Her goal is to minimize the number of prescriptions her patients need to take on a routine basis. “I get the most satisfaction when I am able to work with my patients to treat their chronic conditions through lifestyle modifications and individualized goals, so that they do not need to be dependent on medications.”

As a Catholic, Dr. Nguyen enjoys studying catholic theology in her spare time. Her other hobbies include trying new recipes and hiking.
