About
Suparna Barber, MD began pursuing her career as a physician after working as an educator. As a parent, confidant, mentor and moderator in the classroom, she was inspired by her students and decided to become a pediatrician. While it was difficult for her to leave behind her life as a teacher, she found a new love of medicine and is constantly enjoying the new challenges.
People say you only fall in love once in your life. I disagree, I fall in love daily. I fall in love with the newborns who were knitted in their mother's wombs. I fall in love with those who are starting a new chapter in their life as they enter kindergarten. I fall in love with the teenagers who are experiencing changes in their body and learning about themselves. I fall in love with the high school graduate going off to college. My greatest joy has been seeing children grow from one milestone to the next.
Dr. Barber grew up in Long Beach, California and would describe herself as a compassionate, empathetic, energetic and solution-oriented. She is a life-long learner and can speak Bengali and a bit of Spanish.
As a world traveler, Dr. Barber has visited countries such as India, Australia, Cambodia, Croatia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Argentina, and is excited to continue exploring new places. Though Dr. Barber's other interests include both food and fitness, her greatest joys come from spending time with her family.

By FAR, Dr. Barber is the best doctor my daughter’s have seen! And they’ve see a lot of doctors. She ALWAYS remembers my girls, always asks about the other one when one isn’t there. Now that one’s in college, she always asks how she’s doing & genuinely seems to care about my daughters and our entire family. No matter what we are there for, she always ends the visit by asking us if she has covered all of our concerns and if we have any other questions. Dr. Barber sets the standard for how physicians should act towards their patients and families! Her assistant Petra is just as kind and empathetic. Memorial Care is lucky to have them both!

We recently switched from Kaiser because they are getting too busy and wait time to see my son’s primary pediatrician stretched out for months. We switched insurance and chose MemorialCare due to good reviews from a coworker. I was able to schedule an appt with Dr. Barber on his first visit and she was very friendly and knowledgeable. She listened attentively to our concerns and ordered necessary labs and medications. We’re looking forward to taking our other son on his first visit as well and hopefully can experience a better personalized continuity of care as Kaiser was lacking.
