Michael Y Liu, MD

Dr. Michael Y. Liu is a fellowship-trained, board-certified vascular and interventional radiologist with the MemorialCare Medical Group at Long Beach Medical Center.

His clinical interests include kyphoplasty, tumor ablation, radioembolization, prostate artery embolization, uterine fibroid embolization and deep venous thrombosis interventions

He earned his medical degree from George Washington School of Medicine & Health Sciences in Washington DC followed by a residency in diagnostic radiology at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He then completed a fellowship in interventional radiology at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Liu is board-certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology.

Dr. Liu is actively involved as a sub-primary investigator (PI) in clinical research trials, specifically as the Penumbra BOLT trial to evaluate the safety of Indigo Aspiration System for Deep Vein thrombosis as well as the MOTION trial to evaluate the effectiveness of embosphere microspheres in geniculate artery embolization for knee osteoarthritis.

His interests outside of work include being an amazing dad to his son, golfing, scuba diving, working-out, and traveling with my family.
