About
Dr. Leo was born and raised in Hollywood, California. After experiencing New England life and weather while attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for undergraduate studies in Biology, he returned to California to attend medical school at the University of California, San Francisco.
After receiving his Medical Degree in 1981, Dr. Leo returned to Southern California. After completing residencies in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine, with a one-year stint as an Emergency Department Director in between, he established his practice in Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine in Long Beach. Dr. Leo serves as the Chief Medical Officer for MemorialCare, leading the health system's work on evidence-based care. He also serves as Board Chair of the MemorialCare Physician Society. His private practice emphasizes wellness and disease prevention, along with the evaluation and management of conditions typically seen in adult internal medicine. Dr. Leo holds Board Certifications in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Clinical Lipidology.
