Elizabeth West, MD, specializes in OB/GYN. She enjoys working with women at every stage in their lives—from their first well-woman exam, through pregnancies and menopause. Additionally, she has a passion for nutrition and finds it gratifying to help her patients improve their diet, lifestyle and overall wellness.
Dr. West received her medical degree from the University of California, Irvine’s School of Medicine in 2012. Continuing at UCI, she furthered her training with a Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. While there, she was awarded the position of Administrative Chief Resident, often given to those with exceptional clinical and leadership skills.
Originally from Boston, Dr. West moved to California for medical school and never left. She loves living in Long Beach where she can spend time with her husband and young children and enjoy local activities such as hiking, exploring new restaurants, and going to farmer’s markets.

I was taken inside by a warm engaging young lady named Jamika who took my vitals and led me to the exam room. She explained what was necessary for the visit and left me to change. I’m not used to Dr’s starting the visit with a check in totally unrelated to my appointment but every time I’ve visited Dr. West, she gets to know me as a person not just a patient. She takes into consideration any other health issues that I may have as she adjusts her course of action. She listens and problem solves. She is personable and professional. An excellent balance.

I am normally a patient of Dr Spielvogel, who I love, but he was not available when I spontaneously went into labor and arrived at the hospital two weeks before my due date. Dr west was on call and I knew from previous interactions that I didn't want her as my Dr for my delivery, however things were moving too quickly and I was given no choice. She spoke down to me during the pushing phase of my delivery, as if I didn't know what I was doing or it wasn't good enough. The fact that I didn't lose my cool on her is a miracle as I was just so focused on getting through the pain as it was an all natural delivery. The nurses in the room were even stunned at her attitude with me and the comments she was making. I had the best birth possible with the worst Dr. I would not recommend her to anyone. I even had to return to L&D to have my stitches redone as they came undone from her poor attention to detail. She made it seem like she didn't want to be there at all. Very surprising coming from a fellow woman and mother.
