As a child, Akanksha Kumar, MD was inspired by her mother’s dedication as a nurse. “That motivated me to pursue a career in medicine,” she states. “I am passionate about family medicine because I provide comprehensive care across a broad spectrum of health needs. I believe in taking the time to truly know my patients. I also want to help patients really understand their health and how their lifestyle choices can make a difference.”
Dr. Kumar was born in India and spent time there before her family moved to Arizona, so she is fluent in both Hindi and English. “The most important thing for patients to know about me is that I genuinely care about their well-being,” she says. “I’m here to listen, understand their unique stories, and work with them to achieve the best possible health outcomes. My approach focuses on open communication, trust, and making sure they feel supported. The most rewarding aspect of my job is guiding and encouraging patients to take steps toward lasting, positive changes that enhance their health.” When she is not in the office, Dr. Kumar enjoys traveling, reading, exploring different cuisines, and spending time hiking in nature.
