About
For Kendall Frisoli, MD, the idea of medicine came into her life at a pivotal time. “I had just said goodbye to my Division I volleyball career at UC Davis, pondering my next steps. I was on vacation with my family in Hawaii, building sandcastles with a 5-year-old girl I had just met. It turned out her father was an Orthopedic Trauma surgeon at UC Davis Medical Center. He invited me to come and shadow him when we returned to reality. Two years later, we were publishing a paper in the Journal of Orthopedic Trauma, and he was writing me a letter of recommendation for medical school.” That experience with her mentor, in addition to volunteering at a student-run free clinic and at a local elementary school, affirmed her love for science, education, and human connection. “Medicine was the perfect blend of this,” she notes. “By closing one chapter, I was able to open another in a profession of lifelong learning, growth, and constant intellectual stimulation. It was not until the end of my third year of medical school that I decided to pursue family medicine – I needed to experience it all before deciding on my future path. Family medicine is truly where I belong, as I can build relationships with people based on a foundation of trust, with a common goal of healing.”
Dr. Frisoli feels it is a privilege and honor to be with people at their most vulnerable moments.
“Family medicine allows me to connect with patients in such a genuine and unique way. I aim to prioritize mental health as well as physical well-being, bridging the mind-body connection. During my family medicine residency training, I subspecialized in LGBTQ medicine. Our LGBTQIA+ community is underserved in health care. I always want to serve and support this population along with the general community, regardless of age, race, cultural backgrounds, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, or gender identity. As a family medicine physician, I want my clinic to be a safe space, a place where patients can be themselves without fear of judgment. I am excited for our journey ahead and vow to be every patient’s teammate in the journey of healing.”
Dr. Frisoli adds that she has a passion for life. “I love the outdoors -- morning runs and afternoon bike rides by the beach, swimming, hiking, backpacking, beach volleyball, and long walks to smell beautiful flowers, especially plumerias and gardenias. I love to travel, both for personal and professional fulfillment. Immersing myself in new cultures is one of life's most amazing learning experiences.” Dr. Frisoli is also a musician. “I am a singer, guitarist, songwriter, and recording artist, releasing music on all streaming platforms under the alias, KENDALL. Music centers me and is my creative outlet. Whether it is composing, performing, or sitting back and listening, it is the heartbeat to my world.”
