About

For the last several years, Ai-Chau Thi Hoang, D.O. has had the unique experience of serving veterans as their primary care physician at the Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center in Long Beach. As a result, she has gained a richer understanding of the significance of mental health and its relationship with one’s health, all the while becoming more adept at treating chronic conditions. Her previous experience also includes serving diverse patient populations in the San Joaquin and Coachella Valleys.

Dr. Hoang developed an early interest in medicine. She says “I chose a career in medicine because I was inspired by my mother, who was a registered nurse working in the rehab department at the Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. She was always speaking positively about her patients and the life lessons she learned from them. That was when I knew I wanted a similarly fulfilling vocation.

For Dr. Hoang, the most satisfying aspect of working with patients is when she sees them achieve their goals for health. “Whether these goals entail improving control over diabetes or high blood pressure, losing a little or a lot of weight, or striving to take a daily walk, it is gratifying watching patients celebrate their successes and become even more motivated to continue improving their health.”To this end, Dr. Hoang is always on the lookout for a teaching moment. “I find that the more patients know about their condition, the better equipped they are to care for themselves.”

A fun fact about Dr. Hoang is that she has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English because she had considered becoming an English teacher at one point. Out of the office, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, watching movies, and going out for a meal with friends.
