About
Jessica Sokol, M.D. was so interested in exploring health care delivery within various populations that she earned not one, but two degrees: a medical degree and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH). “I chose a career in medicine because it combined my love of science with my love of people,” she says. “I ended up choosing family medicine as a specialty because I did my family medicine rotation longitudinally in medical school alongside completing my MPH. That enabled me to experience the gift of continuity with my patients and to treat people across generations and throughout their lives.”
Dr. Sokol completed her residency in family medicine at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.
“I was lucky to spend my residency training in Long Beach and have loved getting to know the people of this city. I look forward to continuing to care for this population. I also aim to be a safe space for all patients, including those members of the LGBTQIA+ community.”
As a family medicine practitioner, Dr. Sokol says one of the most enjoyable aspects of working with patients is the continuity and relationship-building that happens over many visits. “It is an honor to get a glimpse into so many individuals’ lives, and helping them through the good and the bad that impacts they health. I care deeply for each and every patient I encounter. My main goal is to listen, ask questions, and provide the best care I can possibly provide regardless of age, background, sexual orientation, gender identity and situation.”
A native of San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Sokol enjoys trying new restaurants, watching musicals, going to the movies, traveling to new places and having game nights with friends.

A leader of the best care team!I have had Dr. Sokol as my primary care doctor for over a year now. Not only does she listen, but actually cares about what I have to say. I am a chronic pain patient, with severe arthritis, cervical spine fusion, and a few other issues. Quite a few doctors in the past have been wary of my condition and my prescriptions, but Dr. Sokol not only reviewed my chart, she discussed it with me. I’ve never felt more dismissed by a physician. I waited 1.5 months for my first appointment with her, and I left feeling frustrated, unheard, and don’t even have the referrals I asked for. I am disappointed with the lack of care and am looking to transfer to a new doctor. Would NOT recommend.

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was unacceptable. I came hoping for support, clarity, and maybe even just basic compassion. Instead, I was met with eye-rolling, a cold attitude, and passive-aggressive remarks that made it clear my presence was more of an inconvenience than anything else.When I asking about symptoms, they were brushed off. I tried to express concerns and was still met with what felt like open hostility. At one point, I genuinely wondered if I’d done something to offend her by simply being sick.I left feeling belittled, disregarded, and so uncomfortable. Being spoken down to, especially while unwell and vulnerable, is not something any patient should have to experience. I’ll be finding a provider who takes their patients seriously and treats them like humans not annoyances.

Poor bedside manner and incompetentThis provider not only disregarded my medical concerns & possible diagnosis (that were later confirmed by a different pcp AND specialist), she didn’t even show an ounce of compassion. She made me feel like I was taking up her time and that she had other more important matters to attend to, after I’ve waited on this appointment for a significant amount of time & have put up with my pain during that period. It would have been fine if she was atleast nice but not only is she incompetent she is also arrogant and demeaning. I have seen many medical providers in my life and this one is by far the worst, based on my experience. I hope she works on her bedside manner for the years to come.
