About
Sandy Serna, MD, earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica and later completed her family medicine residency at Valley Health Team in Fresno, California. Driven by the diverse range of medical challenges and the ever-changing nature of the field, she chose a career in family medicine. From caring for newborns to elderly patients, each day brings a fresh and exhilarating experience.
Establishing genuine connections with my patients is of utmost importance to me. I firmly believe that by truly understanding one another on a profound level, we can form a collaborative partnership that leads to the optimal outcomes. Embracing this patient-centered approach brings me fulfillment in my practice.
Originally from Mexico, Dr. Serna moved to the United States at the age of 8. She currently resides in Southern California, and is fluent in both English and Spanish. Outside of medicine, she enjoys playing tennis, exploring new cooking recipes, dining at new restaurants, and watching Marvel movies.

My encounter was brief but she inspected my wound thoroughly and was honest in what she could do and what wasn’t appropriate to do, such as suture the wound because of how jagged it was. Her instructions were clear to understand. Since the visit was so short it is hard for me to give her a 10. However, I felt very comfortable with her approach, assessment and recommendations.

I believe she is a great doctor, and I know there are people very happy with her services because I read her reviews after my incident. I just felt a little uncomfortable in the way that she asked if I knew that once I’m established with a specialist I don’t need her anymore. Which is not the case because I have tricare and I will eventually need referrals from my primary care doctor. If a provider is basically dismissing me indirectly, I will definitely find a different provider that is willing to take care of my needs. I only have great things to say about Memorial Care itself, buy when it comes to this specific provider, I would not recommend her and this is based only on my personal experience.

I hadn’t been in to see her for over a year and it would have been nice for ask some questions about my overall health or make recommendations like, have you had your skin checked recently or have you scheduled your pap or why did you stop taking BC pills, for example.
