Brianna Cardenas, a medical assistant at MemorialCare, credits her work ethic to her parents. "Growing up, resilience wasn't just a word; it was our reality," Cardenas said. Her mother, who juggled family and studies to become a medical assistant, inspired her. "I'd see my mom up late, books spread across the table," Cardenas said. "Her dedication sparked something in me."

After earning a psychology degree from Cal State Fullerton, Cardenas worked in Applied Behavior Analysis therapy. "Helping a non-verbal child find their voice? That changed everything," she said. "It solidified my passion for the medical field."

Cardenas joined MemorialCare as a front office associate and advanced into a medical assistant role after graduating from the accredited medical assistant course offered as part of MemorialCare’s employee upskilling program; the program offers a variety of high-demand trainings to support employee career exploration and growth. Cardenas now puts her passion for child wellbeing to work alongside a pediatrician.

Cardenas and her mother are colleagues at MemorialCare. Her mother will celebrate 20 years with the organization this summer.

It's more than a job. It's a commitment to making a difference together.
