MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center is expanding its Critical Care Unit (CCU) to meet growing patient demand and ensure timely access to specialized care for patients facing life-threatening medical conditions. With a focus on stabilizing patients, the CCU provides constant monitoring and intensive treatments by clinical staff.

The expansion, expected to begin in late 2025, will add seven new beds, increasing the total bed count to 28, and modernize current diagnostic and imaging technologies within the unit. Within the last five years the hospital has experienced a 65% increase in visits, treating over 48,000 patients

annually. Now more than ever, our community needs us as this upward trend is expected to continue due to the growing and aging population.

“It’s essential for us to keep pace with the needs of our community because we value our patients’ health and well-being. They are entrusting us with their care, and we will deliver on our promise of excellence.”

- Abhishek Bhardwaj, M.D., the newly appointed CCU medical director.

This critical initiative reflects the hospital’s commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. In response to the evolving needs of the community, philanthropic support is essential to accelerate this expansion and make this vision a reality.
